Optimum user retention and activity with your app as the default application

Customising default applications

Android is famous for its customisability. A great example of that is the possibility to change default applications to open different types of data. Examples include web browsers, cameras, galleries, music and video players. It is good for healthy competition and for users who want to get the most from the apps they love. Even better, that default application can be yours! Undoubtedly, it is good for user retention and their usage activity.

iOS does not allow default applications to be changed globally. Applications are allowed to open only links to their websites. Gmail, for example, has internal settings where you can change which applications will be opened by default to view certain types of content. But these settings only apply to Gmail itself.
